Go get your calendar and mark down this date: April 30. According to some recent rumor coming from a beta tester of the Palm Pre, the smartphone is on its way and it will arrive on April 30. It will cost $299.99 with a two-year contract. Is Palm desperate enough to hurry up with the release? It had a bad quarter and we would definitely understand if it’s trying to change all that.
On the other hand would Palm or Sprint allow a beta tester to tell everyone that the phone is coming? Is it a marketing trick? The source of the information is Jim Van, a guy working for Logicomm, an IT company from Rhode Island. And why would a beta tester give out his name? And how come does he know the actual release date? We’ll know more for you in about a month.

[...] According to a beta tester who works for Logicomm, Jim Van, the Palm Pre handset is on its way and will arrive on April 30. Whether you believe it or not, I personally can’t wait to get my hands on this new smartphone. Here’s a quick reminder about the phone, it comes jam packed with a 3.1 inch multi touch display, 329 x 480 pixels display, a 3 megapixel camera with an LED flash, a built in full QWERTY keyboard, 8GB of flash memory, a built in wireless charger and on top of that there is a built in accelerometer. The phone also supports 802.11b/g WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth connectivity and runs on Palm’s new webOS platform. Hopefully he was right! [Mobilewhack] [...]
