There’s no actual news on Windows Mobile 7 but rumors and speculations so far. Is HTC to release a Windows Mobile 7? According to Kevin Chen, their General Manager for MEA and CIS, HTC is planning a Windows Mobile 7 smartphone to arrive sometime in Q1 2009.

As for Microsoft, they should be already working on version 7 of Windows Mobile as we speak, but there aren’t any official news on release dates or upcoming smartphones to carry the new OS. Does HTC know more than they are telling? Most likely they do. Chen was apparently interviewed during the HTC Touch Diamond launch in South Africa. Besides mentioning the Windows Mobile 7 phone he also added there’s another smartphone in the works which should carry Google’s Android OS. This Android smartphone would be released later in Q4 2008.

I wonder what they have in mind. I assume they will top their HTC Touch Diamond.
