The Thuraya Telecommunications Company has been known to produce rugged satellite phones and now it looks like they will be releasing a new one in the Thuraya XT Satellite phone. The latest rugged satellite phone is water resistant, dust and shock proof and is certainly catered for industrial use.

The Thuraya XT complies with the world telecom IP54/IK03 standards and has a glare-resistant display for better readability outdoors. The satellite phone also has a battery life of up to 6 hours and standby-time of up to 80 hours which should count it among the reliable phones in the satellite phone category.

The new phone also has an in-built GPS-Navigation feature and provides standard features like SMS, e-mail, fax and organizer services. It supports 12 languages. It is compact and lightweight, weighing only 193 grams making it usable to customers who need a robust and compact phone on the go.
