Roper Mobile Technology Announces New SwitchBack Model
Roper Mobile Technology unveiled their long awaited SwitchBack PC. Roper Mobile Technology specializes in providing customers with computer solutions suited for harsh and rugged environments. Roper produced the world’s first UMPC. (Ultra Mobile Personal Computer) It employs a version of Windows XP and is often purchased with a custom BackPack. Customers have apparently been very pleased with the custom BackPack initiative, especially the U.S. military. Roper Mobile Technology, is a subsidiary of Roper Industries that recently acquired Black Diamond Advanced Technology, the firm that created the SwitchBack.
This version of the SwitchBack packs more muscle than any other of its predecessors. It comes with the following specks.
-1.0 GHz Intel(R) Celeron(R) M processor
-2GB of 400 MHz DDR2
-up to 120GB of optional storage
The Switchback passed a variety of rigorous environmental situations and meets military standards MIL-STD-810F and IEC 60529 for operations under extreme conditions.

The highlight of the Switchback PC may not be the PC, but rather the custom BackPack. The user is able to connect multiple devices to the BackPack, such as a digital camera and biometric security. The BackPack attaches to the SwitchBack and is able to connect to the PC through a high speed connection. The SwitchBack design is so flexible; it can interact with almost any electronic source from the BackPack.
