RIM 3Q Profits UpBy Brian - 12/22/2009 12:53:46 AM |
Thanks to record Blackberry sales, Research in Motion Ltd. (RIM), showed a 59% increase for its 3rd quarter income. This was largely due to new subscribers and record sales for its smartphones. RIM shares surged to more than 12% in after-hours trading and was attributed largely to the sales from the non-corporate side.
RIM sold more than 10 million Blackberry phones during the third quarter which bests their previous record of 8.3 million during the second quarter. This is a positive sign of the growing popularity of the Blackberry despite stiff competition from other devices such as the iPhone, Palm and the Motorola Droid.
