Today I’ve got another unlikely but interesting product from RichardSolo, one of which was sent via the crew out at the Max Borges Agency.  Today I’m tackling the RichardSolo 1800 for iPhone and iPod.

Now, it’s not that RichardSolo only makes these for iPhone and iPod–this is just the one they sent me.  They also have one that works for Blackberry products as well.  But the RichardSolo is a charger with some extras.

See, it comes with this terrific sort of collapsible plug that allows you to hook it into a standard household current outlet and charge it.  Then, you carry it around with you and when your iPhone or iPod runs low on juice, just slam it home and let the power flow back in.  And that by itself would make this a handy device for many, but this isn’t where it ends.  The RichardSolo 1800 also comes with a one LED flashlight and laser pointer mounted right inside it that runs off the same internal battery that might instead be used to charge your iPhone or iPod.

You can see, almost immediately, the utility this thing would have.  Throw it in your briefcase as an emergency charge for your Blackberry or Apple product.  Use the laser pointer in presentations, the LED flashlight to find your car door lock at night, that kind of thing.  It’s the kind of thing that you never knew you couldn’t live without until you start using it often.

Though the price tag on this sucker–seventy bucks–might be a bit on the high side, it definitely has plenty of uses, and if you find yourself eating through mobile battery time, the RichardSolo 1800 might be exactly what you need.
