Xbox 360: Gone With The Wind?
I just had a quick look around all the major online retailers out there and it looks like that after a two week buying frenzy all stocks of the Xbox 360 have dried up in the USA; nobody is selling it anymore, they are not even taking anymore pre orders. You know when demand has outstripped supply when the biggest retailer in the world, Amazon,
is not selling the hottest product on the planet. How long this will last is anybody's guess.
I read somewhere, but I can't remember where now, that if you ordered the Xbox 360 from Ebgames.com, another massive retailer, after the date of Nov 1st you would have to wait until May 2006 to receive it. Not being critical of Microsoft or anything but I would've thought that they would have had backup plan after backup plan to meet the demand. There has to be a better, faster way to distribute a popular product like this to the consumer, maybe drop shipping or something like that.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to best distribute a very popular product like this? Also if you do know of a retailer selling it please post their link in the comments below. There has to be someone selling it. Yes eBay seems to be selling it, but most sellers don't look like major eBay retailers and could be scammers. Even with the product being sold at eBay, it hardly makes up for the massive short falls and the long waits many people and in for.
Today Gizmodo are reporting that some nut is selling a photo of the Xbox 360 for over 400 bucks.
