Windows Virus with your iPod?
Purchase an iPod after September 12th? Well be prepared, as it might be carrying a Windows virus called RavMonE.exe. (Is this a way to wipe out the PC movement? ;) )
Since only 25 reports so far (that’s less than 1 percent) have been submitted- Apple reassures iPod users that the "iPod nano, iPod shuffle and Mac OS X are not affected, and all Video iPods now shipping are virus free. As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it." A golden opportunity to jab at its competitor; but does it really put Microsoft at fault?
Antivirus company McAfee listed the iPod threat as a low risk, but gave it the rating of "low/profiled," which the company said applies to viruses that "appear to be low risk, but warrant additional monitoring because they have attracted media interest."
Most anti-virus programs should be able to detect it; and this does not affect the iPod but rather the computer, directly.
