WinBook_WS5000_1.jpgSotec has come up with a new BTO Ultra, the WinBook WS5000, a compact light-weight notebook for Japan, which features the all new revolutionary Core 2 Duo processor. It boasts of a 12-inch wide screen with resolutions stretching upto 1024x768. Consumers get to choose from 3 different Core 2 Duo processor models, T5500, T7200 or T7400 each running at clock speeds of 1.66GHz, 2GHz and 2.13GHz respectively. You can also choose from from 40 to 120GB SATA hard disks, from 512MB to 1.5GB of memory and an DVD burner, as well.

Weighing just about 1.6Kg, it measures 274x232x34mm and delivers up to 4.2 hours of autonomy and the optional Long haul Lithium ion battery model delivers a staggering 6.7 hours of operating time. The system comes loaded with Mobile Intel 945GM Express + ICH7-M board and also Windows XP home/professional edition with SP2 operating system. The primary storage comes with a default 512MB DDR2 SD RAM and if at all you feel there is a need for extra bit of RAM you can always go in for an upgrade model featuring 1GB RAM at few extra bucks, and also not to mention the SD memory slot. The optical storage gets an optional double layered DVD drive and on the connectivity side it features USB 2.0 and a wireless LAN port. The base model is available at a suggested 119,800 Yen which is approximately around 1100 USD.
