Toshiba Tecra S3 Notebook
Toshiba released the new Tecra S3 Notebook, offering the latest in data security, protection and reliability. What's more, it also complies with the EU RoHS directive, restricting hazardous materials in electronic equipment.
Biometric security is hot right now with various personal devices, what with HP iPAQs now incorporating the same technology. A slew of security features ensure that your data is protected when your notebook is stolen or lost, making it virtually impossible to retrieve data without the right credentials.
The Tecra S3 also happens to be the first model to include the most comprehensive collection of Toshiba's EasyGuard technology that drives home the four aspects: Secure, Protect & Fix, Connect and Optimize.
The Trusted Platform Module is an embedded security chipset that stores the authorized user's credentials, while a biometric fingerprint reader requires the user to swipt her finger across the notebook instead of typing in a password. An additional level of security is enforced by the HDLock, which combines a USB A-Key along with a personal password that acts as the key to the notebook.
Connectivity options are a-plenty, right from Gigabit ethernet to fast IR, v.92 modem, 802.11 a/b/g and optional Bluetooth 2.0 support. A 15" display is provided for sharp images, and the laptop is driven by an Intel Pentium M processor.
Prices start at US $1,599, and are available from the Toshiba Direct website.
