Toshiba Satellite R15-S829Toshiba launched their new Satellite R15-S829 (can the names get any more confusing?) Notebook - a convertible to be precise, which doubles up as a tablet PC. While you can work with the R15-S829 using a keyboard, you can also rotate and fold the screen down to use it as a Tablet PC with pen-based input. Neat stuff.. yeah, some people (like me) are faster at writing down ideas with a pen rather than a keyboard.

The Satellite R15-S829 also includes features that are new to this line of notebooks from Toshiba, including a DVD SuperMulti double layer drive that can read/write up to 10 formats, and an 80 gig 5400rpm hard drive. As you might've guessed, it's pre-loaded with Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005 for convenient operation. An Intel Pentium M 735 processor and 512MB of memory (that can be upped to 2GB) form the base configuration for the R15-S829.

More than anything, the R15-S829 gives the user freedom; with a device doubling up as a notebook and tablet PC, the user can easily take down notes or draw with digital pen, while at the same time she can use the keyboard to send e-mail. An integrated Intel PRO 2200BG (802.11 b/g) offers seamless wireless connectivity.

The 14.1" XGA , when used in Tablet PC mode, offers a viewing area equivalent of an 8.5x11 inch piece of paper. Bundled Microsoft Office OneNote allows for convenient ways to organize and share notes gathered from various sources like e-mail, meetings, the web, etc.

Prices start at US $1,599 and Satellite R15-S829 notebooks can be ordered from Toshiba Direct.
