Toshiba R400-S4931 Table PC - Signature Windows Vista PC
Looks like Toshiba too has succumbed to the White Notebook Syndrome and their latest offering, the Toshiba Portégé R400 is available in a chic Black & White combination. Currently on display at the CES 2007, the Toshiba R400-S4931 is a brainchild of Toshiba and Microsoft.
The tablet pc has the distinction of being the world’s first notebook computer with the ability to automatically synchronize e-mail and calendar events through the integration of Microsoft’s Active Notifications. Thus one can be privy to all their important emails etc even when the PC is in suspend mode. For enhanced computing experience, Toshiba has incorporated the Toshiba Edge Display to the Portégé R400 and the secondary display, lets one monitor their inbox and calendar activity.
The Toshiba Portégé R400 draws it juice from an Intel Core™ Duo Processor U2500 (1.20GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB) and uses Genuine Windows® Vista Ultimate as its O.S. One also comes across a 2.1-inch diagonal widescreen LED backlit high-brightness display with wide viewing angle {Active matrix LCD WXGA (1280 x 800 native resolution and an external USB DVD SuperMulti drive (+R double layer) drive supporting 10 formats. Other features include; 80GB HD, 2GBRAM,Integrated EV-DO (Verizon Wireless), Bluetooth® 2.0 + EDR,Wi-Fi etc.
The Toshiba R400-S4931 measures 12.0-inches x 9.43-inches x 1.18/1.26-inches and weighs just around 3.79 pounds. Toshiba has also incorporated the nifty Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology with wireless digital video capabilities, which actually makes it the world’s first wirelessly dockable notebook computer. For enhanced security, one also comes across a biometric fingerprint reader, multi-level passwords and a TPM 1.2 encryption module as part of the company’s exclusive EasyGuard™ technology.
The Toshiba R400-S4931 with Genuine Windows Vista Business has a starting price point of $2,5995. Configurations will also be available with Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate. The Portégé R400 will be available on Jan. 30, 2007
