    TMobile Dash Now Available

As we inch closer to the holiday season, lots of goodies on offer from cell phone companies. T-Mobile unveiled the new Dash smartphone powered by Windows Mobile 5.0.

The T-Mobile Dash features a QWERTY keyboard and comes with Outlook Mobile, a full-featured email client. While it's got GPRS and EDGE capabilities, I suspect the Wi-Fi will make it more useful to get online.

Bluetooth and voice-activated dialing are available, as well as a microSD memory slot. A 1.3 megapixel camera, Windows Media Player and IM clients for Yahoo!, MSN and AOL round up the feature list.

Priced at US $199.99 after rebates, the T-Mobile Dash is out in the wild. Specs in extended entry.

T-Mobile MDA Vario II Review Round-Up

Snapshot%202006-10-24%2009-08-28.jpgIt’s seldom that you come across a smartphone that is not only at the top of its game when it comes to features, but is also easy on the eyes! The T-Mobile MDA Vario II thus leaves quite a first impression with its ergonomics, its just right size and of course its HSDPA capabilities. However first impression unfortunately is not always the last impression and thus we here at the Whack thought we should do a Review Round Up and see what the general consensus is.

Cnet UK - The folks over at Cnet could not help marvel at the Vario’s internet performance especially when it comes to its HSDPA capabilities. They give it an impressive 8.2 out of 10 rating and liked features like Wi-Fi, its camera with a macro lens and its expandable memory. However every handset has an Achilles Heel and the Vario II is no different. This PDA failed in the battery department and the camera lacked any sort of protection.

    Personal Computer World
    - They also couldn’t resist succumbing to the Vario charm and loved the smartphone for its blistering fast data speeds. The website was able to establish an 1.8 mbps connection with complete ease and the Windows Mobile OS worked flawlessly. The slide open Qwerty keyboard leaves quite an impression and so does the onboard feature set. However when it comes to faults the Vario II is not without them. The handset does not achieve the promised maximum speed and the camera was found to be quite slow.

Limited Edition Designer T-Mobile Sidekick Phone

Limited Edition Designer T-Mobile Sidekick Phone

Fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, in association with Lifted Research Group, has created limited edition T-Mobile Sidekicks. Technologically, these will be the same as T-Mobile Sidekick 3, but they are miles ahead when it comes to making a style statement.

The Diane von Furstenberg Sidekick from T-Mobile (left) reeks of independence and straightforward style, available in sleek black and featuring Diane's signature hot-pink lips.

The L-R-G Sidekick is a deviation that tries out a simple statement: "underground inventive, overground effective". Underground inventive refers to the beginning or roots, referring to how something starts out, while overground effective tells the story of what happens when these roots come out strong. Hidden within a traditional baby-tree camouflage, the L-R-G Sidekick is peppered with iconic imagery.

As with the original Sidekick 3, the phones feature IM and email clients, full QWERTY keyboard, EDGE technology for faster net access, a 1.3 megapixel camera, MP3 player and Bluetooth.

The Diane von Furstenberg and L-R-G Sidekicks will be available across select T-Mobile retail locations. They will be available online from October 30, 2006 till supplies last.

    T-Mobile Dash Smartphone

2705_dash.jpgThese days, it is impossible to separate people from the cells and their internet, it’s like they have to stay connected all the time. T-Mobile’s new Dash Smartphone is designed for this demand to keep a customer hooked up with their telephone, e-mail, and Wi-Fi all the time.

The T-mobile Dash is very compact, at only a half-inch thick and weighing in at 4.2 ounces. It has a cool QWERTY keyboard and 2.4 inch LCD keyboard (320 x 240 pixel resolution). All of this fits wonderfully in the palm of your hand.

It is powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0, as well as Direct Push Technology. Windows Media Player 10 allows you to play audio and video files from the internet, or transferred from a PC. Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile allows you access to your personal calendar and contacts.

It is also full of features. You can operate a speakerphone with Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free use. It also has a 1.3 megapixel camera. On a certain plan, the device is completely Wi-Fi compatible, so you have full access to your e-mail and the World Wide Web from anywhere you can get reception. The reception of the 802.11b/g has quite a range with quad-band GSM, GPRS, and EDGE. The phone also features the myFaves enabling, which allows you to connect more easily to the people who you want to contact.

The battery life is good for about five hours of talk time, and nine days of standby. Better be prepared to charge this one. No doubt the audio and video playback will eat up power faster than you can Dash.

The T-mobile Dash will be available exclusively to T-Mobile customers starting late October. No word about a price yet, but information can be received at the T-Mobile site.

When T-mobile says “Get more”, they must mean this.

T-Mobile Sidekick 3 Official PicWe had seen the T-Mobile Sidekick 3 get approval from FCC, and the only thing that remained was the official announcement.

While the word is not out yet, the guys over at Gizmodo managed to find what could be an official marketing pic of the Sidekick 3. The keypad looks like they broke open a cheap calculator and put its keys in the Sidekick.

Speculations are rife that the device will see a release as early as June 26 this year. Stay tuned for more details.

T-Mobile SDA II due out in Christmas

T-Mobile SDA IIT-Mobile has confirmed the launch date for the SDA II Smartphone and it isn't now unfortunately. The phone is now slated to make its appearance in the German market at around the Christmas timeframe. The SDA II has repeatedly been delayed over the last year and even the rumored SDA II Music phone was cancelled before it made it to the stores.

T-Mobile took the time to also confirm the upcoming MDA Vario communicator phone which will also launch alongside the new SDA II. T-Mobile did not mention any information on the specifications of the SDA II but it does not appear the phone will be very much different from the T-Mobile SDA phone. The SDA is a candy bar style Windows based smartphone with tr-band GSM support. The SDA II is expected to have a large screen (QVGA resolutions) and a larger amount of memory. www.t-mobile.com.
