TivoSeries3.jpgAlthough not officially announced, TiVo gave us a little sneak peak of this new box at CES 2006. It is Tivo's first HD-capable Digital Video Recorder (DVR), quite a long wait actually after the company announced its plans 2 years ago. It comes with 250GB of hard disk space, a single-color, two-line OLED LCD display built-in ethernet, 2 USB ports, and an external SATA port for expanding the device's storage capacity.

Users will be able to record everything from digital cable, HD content, as well as analog cable content. It is also expected to have two digital tuners (courtesy o its two CableCARD slots) allowing users to record simultaneously from two sources. It has six tuners (2 cable, 2 ATSC, and 2 NTSC). Meanwhile its also has HDMI, Component Video, S-Video and Composite Video out.

The device is expected to debut in mid to late 2006 for about $400-800, but as you can see with all those ranges, nothing is for certain at this point. Via Tivo Lovers.

Update: Gearlive was recently able to pull aside the upcoming Tivo Series 3 for a short video review. They also provide some snapshots of the much anticipated device.
