rm-5c.gifTelefunken plans to add some funk in our drab existence by releasing the new RM-5C Ribbon Microphone. Okay maybe a slight exaggeration on the funk part but the microphone does look pretty promising. A first from the company, the new Ribbon Microphone has a “softer” quality, which works great with vocals, acoustic guitar, drum overheads (cymbals) and percussion instruments, signal sources among others.

A brainchild of Jerry Silvia & David Browning, the microphone is said to be a “technological breakthrough” as it is made up of superior magnetic materials and sports a novel acoustic design. Its frequency ranges from 30 to 18,000 Hz and design wise it takes a cue from the classic RCA BK5.
