Snapshot%202006-10-24%2009-08-28.jpgIt’s seldom that you come across a smartphone that is not only at the top of its game when it comes to features, but is also easy on the eyes! The T-Mobile MDA Vario II thus leaves quite a first impression with its ergonomics, its just right size and of course its HSDPA capabilities. However first impression unfortunately is not always the last impression and thus we here at the Whack thought we should do a Review Round Up and see what the general consensus is.

Cnet UK - The folks over at Cnet could not help marvel at the Vario’s internet performance especially when it comes to its HSDPA capabilities. They give it an impressive 8.2 out of 10 rating and liked features like Wi-Fi, its camera with a macro lens and its expandable memory. However every handset has an Achilles Heel and the Vario II is no different. This PDA failed in the battery department and the camera lacked any sort of protection.

Personal Computer World
- They also couldn’t resist succumbing to the Vario charm and loved the smartphone for its blistering fast data speeds. The website was able to establish an 1.8 mbps connection with complete ease and the Windows Mobile OS worked flawlessly. The slide open Qwerty keyboard leaves quite an impression and so does the onboard feature set. However when it comes to faults the Vario II is not without them. The handset does not achieve the promised maximum speed and the camera was found to be quite slow.

Web User - On reviewing the handset, the folks over at Web User could not help but fall in love with the Vario II. To them the smartphone is almost perfect and scores brownie points for its style, its fast connectivity, its feature set and its intuitive interface. However on nit picking they came up with insufficient internal memory and the exclusion of a Hold Switch to prevent accidental usage.

IT Reviews
- The Vario II according to IT Review is the perfect amalgamation of style and functionality. To them the size is just right and working with it was quite a breeze. Its HSDPA capabilities, its intuitive interface and its slide out QWERTY keyboard are all winners. The phone according to them is a success on all fronts and they don’t have anything negative to say!

My 2 Cents - From all the reviews above, one thing is for certain that the T-Mobile MDA Vario II is quite a trooper and has an universal appeal. It doesn’t just rest on its HSDPA capabilities and seeks to be a complete package, which is quite commendable. All the above-mentioned reviews hardly found any faults with the handset, so next time you go mobile shopping, do take a look at it.
