SpansionSpansion announced a new family of high-performance MirrorBit NOR and ORNAND flash memory solutions for OEMs, in a move to provide enhanced multimedia functionality on next-gen phones.

The 90nm 512-Mbit MirrorBit devices offer high density - automatically making them capable of supporting more functionality and storage capacity for mobile data services. This would also enable handset manufacturers to use a single-platform approach.

Operating on 1.8V wireless systems, the MirrorBit NOR flash devices can reach up to 133MHz. Samples of 90nm MirrorBit 512Mb product are available now, with mainstream 1Gb MirrorBit ORNAND and 512Mb NOR MCPs targeted at a mid-year release.
