Sony VGN-UX50 UMPC
Guys, get ready to drool. Sony has just announced their version of what an Ultra Mobile PC should look like. Please welcome the Sony Vaio VGN-UX50. Weighing in at just 520 grams, the VGN-UX50 is powered by an Intel Centrino 1.06 GHz processor processor and runs Microsoft Windows XP. This is actually an evolution of Sony's 2002 "Bio U" concept device.
Measuring 150mm x 95mm x 32mm, the UX50 is extrememly compact and fits easily in your hands. The body frame is made of carbon fiber lending to its light weight. Sony claims a (standard) battery life of 3.5 hours on this baby. With an extended battery, you can get up to 7 hours.

Using the separately available VGP-BGU1 Bluetooth GPS unit (no need for a separate Bluetooth adapter - it's integrated), you can use the Sony VGN-UX50 as your driving companion, giving you directions as you move on the road.
System start-up time from standby mode to operational mode is an unbelievable 5 seconds! No other device even comes that close. You can operate it with either your finger tip or the stylus provided. The Sony VGN-UX50 offers a CF card slot, so you can install a WLAN card to wirelessly access your network.
Any mobile device with a camera is useful (trust me, it is) - so Sony has included a camera on this one as well. The display is a crisp 4.5" LCD touch panel. The screen can also be rotated or zoomed in as required for easier operation. For added security, the device features a fingerprint sensor.
The VAIO UX Micro PC will be available in July for about $1,800 and can be purchased online at www.sonystyle.com, at Sony Style(R) stores or at select retailers around the country.. Sony.
For added convenience, a docking station with three 2.0 USB ports, Ethernet, VGA, iLink(R) IEEE-1394 interface and an AV output comes with the unit, making it easy to connect to peripherals like a full-sized keyboard, display and speakers when back in the office or at home.

Stumble It!
