Sony VGN-AR11S Review
TrustedReviews.com did a review of the Sony VAIO VGN-AR11S notebook. They give the notebook brownie points for its Media Center capabilities, its Full HD compatible 17in screen, the incredible display and its bonafied Blu-ray re-writable drive. However the website wasn’t impressed by the notebooks dimensions as it weighs 3.8 Kgs and measures 416 x 300 x 34mm.
The Sony VAIO VGN-AR11S is made of stuff we techies dream off and is a top of a line model in the VAIO series. The notebook not only plays Blu Ray DVDs but also has a Blu-Ray writer! This is one of the first genuine Sony Media Center PC and includes two 100GB hard disks, NVIDIA GeForce GO 7600 card and 256MB of dedicated memory. The 17 inch LCD has a native resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 which lets you enjoy your DVDs in all its glory.
The website in the end concludes “It would be easy to think of the AR11S solely as the first notebook available with a Blu-ray drive, but that really would be selling it short. What you've actually got here is a superb Media Center PC, with all the components to allow it to be the centre of your high-definition entertainment setup. Yes it's pretty expensive, but you really are getting not just cutting edge, but potentially future proof technology here - once Blu-ray movies start to appear, the AR11S will add another very impressive string to its bow. But the jewel in the crown of the AR11S is the HDCP enabled HDMI port, meaning that non only will you be able to watch Blu-ray movies on the excellent 17in internal screen, but you'll also be able to watch them on your high definition TV in the living room. This really is how Windows Media Center is supposed to beâ€
