Sony Ericsson have announced the Sony Ericsson Z525 Clamshell for the US Market. The Sony Z525a is a trendy and an affordable phone which would offer a variety of features seen usually in high end phones. The Z525 is an upgrade to the Z520, which was a runaway hit, it offer users functions like Bluetooth®, a VGA camera, multimedia messaging capabilities and offer push-to-talk functionality.

Sony wants to capture the American market and looks like the Sony Z525a is it's Trojan horse. The Push To Talk function lets a number of people stay in touch as immediate contact is maintained between them. The Bluetooth capability is not only a handy feature but also a lot of fun. Users can transfer games, ringtones and connect to other Bluetooth enabled devices like headsets and car kits. The light around the rim lights up in colors in sync with the melodies thus lending a fun factor to the phone. A Media Player is also found on the phone and it is capable of playing Midi ringtones too.

The Sony Z525a has a VGA camera so click away and store all those precious moments in your phone. Another cool feature is the ability to attach images to the contacts in the phone book. This way the image of the person who is calling you is displayed on the external screen. MMS is also included in the Sony Z525a and the internet browser gives instant access to the cyber world. Some other features include Java applications, WAP Enabled Browser, USB support, Speakerphone, Video playback and streaming and 3D Gaming.

The Sony Ericsson Z525a is a quad-band GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 and will be available by Q2 2006. No word on pricing yet but Sony ensures that it would be nothing exorbitant.

"It is an exciting time to be at Sony Ericsson. The Z525 is further proof that Sony Ericsson can and will continue to create award-winning mobile devices that lead in design, quality and are easy to use,” said Najmi Jarwala, president, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Inc. (USA). “We are committed to offering a complete portfolio of handsets, PC cards and accessories for North American operators and consumers.”

“The first Z520 has been an extremely successful product, and we are excited to enhance this popular handset with additional features,” Jarwala adds. “The Z525 is a small, sleek fashionable handset that is packed with great features including Bluetooth functionality which, in the past, has traditionally been limited to high-end devices, as well as a great camera, and push-to-talk.”
