Compact Vault 8GB.jpgSony is having a ball out there today. Sony Electronics today unveiled the Compact Vault 8GB drive, adding to it's long list of removable hard disk drives. The new drive is compatible with Compact Flash type II slots, and provides a significant increase in data storage over the current 5GB version. If you are bugged seeing the "out of memory" message in your digital cameras, then this one's probably the perfect one to go for, especially for high-end digital camera owners, who desire for 2,560 resolution JPEG images which consumes a lot of space on your conventional memory card.

The 8GB Vault drive is powered by transfer speeds of up to 12MB/sec and more to it is the capacity as it can hold up to 2,560 JPEG images (at 3MB each) or 320 minutes of MPEG4 video. Well, with all these it measures just around one and a half inches wide. The Drive is basically targetted at the photo enthusiasts and pro-consumers. I for the one feel that this is a must own model.

The 8GB Compact Vault will be available in June with a suggested retail price of $259.99.
