Sony DCR-PC1000 Camcorder
Sony has unveiled the PC1000, a 3-CMOS camcorder in the PC line-up of camcorders. The new model provides for rear-loading tape, with space for the battery inside the camcorder - so older batteries are not compatible. Thanks to 3 CMOS chips driving it instead of the usual 1 CCD, you get better colors and, in fact, less power consumption.
The swivel LCD is 2.7" wide, and since it is a touch-screen, there are not too many controls on its body. It can rotate up to 270 degrees for varying viewing angles. The PC1000 also featuers USB and Firewire ports, while the headphone and mic-in sockets are missing now.
True 16:9 images are possible now with the PC1000. You can take digital still pictures at 1920x1440 resolution and store them onto Memory Stick Duo media. Priced at US $1,299.99, you can order yours from Sony's online store.
