Skyhook Wireless Inc.'s new Loki service has created more than 100 maps of various American cities with precise locations for five million wireless data signals. Through these signals Loki tell users with WiFi laptops their location and from where they can obtain a variety of products and services.

Skyhook Wireless made its employees drive down every street in America's 100 biggest cities and loaded their cars with WiFi detection gear, and GPS satellite receivers. Thus they were able to identify each unique WiFi signal and linked it to the latitude and longitude data from the GPS system to produce a detailed map. The Loki toolbar links to a number of geographic search tools on the Internet also.

They are giving away the software as for now and one can download it on the following website: www.loki.com
