directv_ui_lg.jpgThanks to Sling Media, Inc., and Microsoft who today unleashed a customized version of its SlingPlayer Software using which you, can take your TV with you. This software can turn out to be a real treat for products based on the Ultra Mobile PC. The customized SlingPlayer application gives you the full authority over your home television source, including the most popular cable boxes, satellite receivers, DVD players and digital video recorders (DVRs).

What’s more, the set up of Slingbox hardware is very easy. The first step is to connect the cable box to the Slingbox using an available video output on the cable box. Next up position the Slingbox IR emitter in front of the cable box's IR receiver. This is how you control the cable box from your computer. When you click "channel up" on your virtual remote, the SlingPlayer software tells the Slingbox to emit the "cannel up" IR code for your cable box. The final step in hardware setup is to plug the Slingbox into a wall outlet. The SlingPlayer software has a setup wizard that walks you through the whole process on your computer.

Watch this space regarding the price and availability of the product in the market.
