Shure E500 Earphones With Push-To-Hear Control
Shure, known for its headphones, raised the bar by several levels with the introduction of the new E500 Sound Isolating earphones. While I'm not a big fan of earphones, the E500 has enough coolness factor to draw me enough to give it a serious try.
The E500 utilizes three ultra-mini speakers - one tweeter and two woofers - for reaching those precious highs and lows in audio frequencies for a near-live listening experience. This in-ear package comes in a new bronze metallic design and are comfortable enough for day-long wearing.
Boasting the first to implement Push-To-Hear (PTH) accessory, the E500 allows the user to mute the music and activate a tiny external mic through which you can hear the ambient sound. Some may call it eavesdropping, though. Of course, the PTH is available separately for other sound-isolating headphones.
For a brief list of benefits of Shure headphones, check out the extended entry. With a price tag of US $499.00, the E500-PTH will be available May 2006, and can be purchased from Shure's online store.
