Sharp GX40 Cell PhoneAccording to this report from Mobile Gazette, reports of the new Sharp GX40 have been confirmed with Vodafone planning to bring out the phone in several areas including Greece, Malta and Switzerland.

A tri-band GSM phone, the Sharp GX40 sports a 1.3 megapixel cam (at which I'm surprised - I was expecting at least 2 MP this time from Sharp) and a 2" 240 x 320 pixel resolution display. An external display is included which is sort of minimal - but good enough to use the GX40 as a media player thanks to the integrated MP3 player.

Kudos to Sharp for including media controls on the front of the phone - which means you don't have to flip open the phone to start playing music, which can be stored conveniently on a miniSD memory card. The maximum capacity supported, however, is a disappointing 512MB. Oh, and did I mention it's got Bluetooth as well?

The phone's keyboard is plain - no weirdo keyboards here, thank goodness. Priced around €350, it may be available in early Q1 2006. For more details, visit Vodafone or Sharp.
