Sharp GX29 Cell PhoneIt appears that Sharp's new GX29 cell phone has been granted FCC approval. While we don't have pics of the phone (Sharp has requested short-term confidentiality on them), we do know that it's a tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz phone targeted at North America.

The phone is compatible with GPRS and also provides Bluetooth facilities. Judging by the info available, it's a clamshell with dual displays - a B&W STN with backlight on the front, and a nice 260k color TFT screen at 240x320 pixel resolution and 1.9" diagonal screen.

The Sharp GX29 also has a 310k pixel camera. For browsing the web on GPRS networks, the phone includes a basic WAP 2.0 browser. Measuring 93.8 x 46 x 20.3mm, it weighs just 90 grams. No details available yet on the battery life.

More details should be available soon on Sharp's website.
