Look at the image of the Seitz 6 x 17 Digital Panoramic Camera, and one word will surely come to mind: Huge. Or enormous, monolithic, or gargantuan (so rarely have an occasion to use that word), but even if that Justin Timberlake look-alike model is some midget, the camera is just plain b-i-i-i-g. However, in order to get 160 Megapixels, (really!) it probably has to be.

The Seitz Digital Panoramic is as much a portable computer as it is a camera. You can even choose what type of operating system to use, from Mac OS, Windows, or Linux. It is completely Ethernet compatible, as well as a WLAN connection. The viewscreen is a color touchscreen with 640 x 480 resolution, which you can use to zoom, edit, as well as other image controls.

But the camera’s main boast is the power to take a high resolution 6 x 17 digital image in one second. I don’t know how you can top that, unless it has the memory to store these images. It certainly sounds like it does, though.

Be warned: you get what you pay for. A mobile version goes for $36,600 USD and the studio version goes for 34,000 USD. No word is out as far as the release date.
