Seiko-SVRD001-watch.jpgSeiko has announced a new limited edition watch called the Spectrum SVRD001 which is the first use of electronic ink display technology (otherwise known as Electrophoretic Displays) in a watch. Seiko plans on releasing only 500 of these watches with 200 of them being made available in Japan.

The watch itself is shaped in the form of a bracelet and has a wide viewing angle of 180 degrees. The electronic ink display is extremely thin and energy efficient. The display itself could be bent nearly in half if it was outside of the watch.

It's great to see new innovations come to watches. I personally have not worn a watch in nearly a decade but would totally consider wearing this one if it was made available at an affordable price here in the US. The new SVRD001 will go on sale starting on January 27th, 2006 for 262500 Yen. Via Akihabara News.
