segway.jpgSegway. The name conjures up images of people on a weird pedestal, moving around quickly while munching away on a hot dog, oblivious to the stares from people around them. Well, it seems Segway has two new Personal Transporter (PT) systems called the i2 and x2. It's interesting what the FCC documents reveal these days. No, really.

The Segway PT i2 is optimized mostly for indoor use, and outdoor use in a wide variety of environments, while the PT x2 is specifically meant for outdoor use. Which is why the x2 also has larger and wider tires, knobby treads and a wider stance. Clearly, the x2 is not meant for sidewalk use.

Both the models claim a maximum speed of 12.5 mph (20 kmph), running on Li-ion batteries. On a full charge, you get 16-24 miles (26-39 km) on the i2, and 9-12 miles (14-19km) on the x2.

No pricing info yet - check back with us for this later.
