Sanyo_XactiHD.jpgSanyo will be introducing the world's smallest and lightest High Definition Digital Video Camera at the CES 2006. The Sanyo HD1 can record both 720p High Definition video and also take 5.1 megapixel still shots. Its tapeless interface records everything onto a Secure Digital (SD) memory card (up to 2GB).

The secret behind this device's abilities is the use of a high-precision LSI (large-scale integration) for image processing. It is also capable of real-time MPEG-4 compression and noise reduction and boasts of a 2.2-inch OLED display that flips and rotates up to 285 degrees, 10x optical zoom and a built-in voice recorder.

Users can record up to 21 minutes of 720p HD video onto a 1GB SD card or about 42 minutes for a 2GB card. There is also an option to record in standard definition mode (640 x 480 pixels at 30fps progressive) at the flip of a switch. Also this fits into its small and lightweight frame.

The Sanyo HD1 goes on sale in the United States this march at a average retail price of $800. www.sanyodigital.com.
