slim.jpg Looks like Samsung engineers are obsessed with 'slim' factor to say the least! In the press release today, Samsung unveiled that the company has developed what seems to be the slimmest mobile LCD panel, just about the size of your card at 0.82mm, which is 0.07mm thinner than the panel previously reported to be the world’s slimmest.

If that's not all, Samsung has made its 0.82-mm slim TFT-LCD more shock-resistant and easier to read outdoors in the process, thanks to the 'i-Lens' technology which the company claims as a new mobile technology that integrates the entire panel assembly, including a protective layer, into a single, thinner module, thus making it more protective and shock resistant as well. Some technology isn't it? Apart from that, the LCD panel features a 240x320 (QVGA) resolution, 300nit brightness, and 500:1 contrast ratio and is available in both 2.1 and 2.2-inch diagonal screen sizes. According to Samsung, the mass production is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2007.
