To be honest, I’m not certain to call the Samsung SPH-P9000 a phone or computer. Then again, in this wireless/digital age, what isn’t? I think Samsung calls it a “mobile convergence device” but that sounds more like a Politically Correct moniker to me.

The SPH-P9000 uses the ever-so-popular WiMAX technology along with CDMA-EV-DO connectivity. The WiMAX provides the Internet connectivity, while the CDMA-EV-DO provides the mobile phone/voice communication.

As you can see from the oddly-angled photo, a QWERTY keyboard is all folded up in there. This gives you the power to surf the web and send/receive e-mail just like you were at your desktop or laptop. The five inch screen is excellent for viewing documents. There is about 30GB of disk space which should be perfect for movies, music, for what you need. All of this uses Microsoft Windows XP operating system.

Other features include its 1.3 Megapixel camera, as well as its Bluetooth connectivity. The Samsung SPH-P9000 will be launched in Korea sometime in 2007. Something tells me that a device that folds like this one could easily make its way into other countries.
