q1-thumb11.jpgWashington Post was lucky enough to get their hands on the Samsung Q1 UMPC and posted an in-depth review of it. According to the website, the Q1 may get a lot of takers because of its cool gadget factor, however one can't but help noticing the lack of CD or DVD drive sacrificed in the name of ultra portability. A keyboard and good 3rd party software also was missed. The Post further pans the gadget as it doesn’t have a decent battery life and it heats up a lot.

The Samsung Q1 includes connectivity options like Blue-tooth, Wireless Internet and digital broadband. It features an integrated 7 inch wide LCD display and weighs just about 779 grams. With a tagline of Always Being Connected, users can connect to the web via their GPRS or LAN connection. The UMPC comes preloaded with Windows Operating System and includes two USB ports for external attachments.

The website finally concludes in their Samsung Q1 review: “And it costs $1,100, more than many heavier laptops and not that much less than ultra light models that only weigh a pound or so more than this crippled contraption. There will be other manufacturers selling Ultra-Mobile PCs, some of which could include such interesting additions as Global Positioning System capabilities and (here's a crazy idea) a keyboard. If they sell for anything close to Samsung Q1's price, any potential the Ultra-Mobile concept might have will continue to be Utterly Missed”
