Samsung Pro 815 wins DIWA Gold Award
Last year we did a comprehensive review of the 8 Megapixel Samsung Pro 815 digital camera. You can read all of that here. What we did not predict then was the 815 winning the The Digital Imaging Websites Association (DIWA) Gold Award. Today that's what has just happened.
I think what clinched the victory for the Samsung Pro 815 is it's snappy 15x (optical) Schneider-Kreuznach Varioplan zoom lens - still the world record in terms of zoom power in a digital camera. Its rechargeable battery pack with 1900 mAh capacity at 7.4V remains unmatched. With three LCD viewfinders, a gorgeous 3.5" LCD-screen, an electronic viewfinder, a 235K color capability, a sophisticated hybrid AF system with nine focusing points and a powerful AF assisting lamp, user friendliness, and a host of other innovations in image shooting, the Samsung Pro 815 had a lot to fall back on.
Kai Thon, DIWA's test manager comments: "The technical specifications alone prove that Samsung aims high with its Samsung Pro815. However, in today’s marketplace, a camera must also deliver in real life. A number of DIWA experts have tested the Pro815 to its limits and they all reported much higher scores than expected. Not only does the Pro815 handle well, it also performs like a professional camera, much thanks to its astonishing Schneider-Kreuznach 15x zoom lens and Samsung’s much improved image processor."
Good job Samsung. You have just pushed the pedal to the medal.
