Samsung Plum Cell Phone

Cell phone names are getting more and more interesting. If RAZR and Chocolate baffled you, I don't know what Samsung's new Plum will do to you. That's right, Samsung Plum, otherwise known as the SGH-t509s, is now available to T-Mobile customers in the US.

This candybar phone is just 0.39" thin and is available in deep plum color (what did you expect, orange?). The phone supports SMS/MMS/EMS messaging, but supports an ancient VGA camera with 4x digital zoom. On the t509s, you get just 7MB of internal memory with no room for expansion.

The Plum is compatible with GPRS and EDGE networks for high speed connectivity. Goodies on the phone include a video player, IM capability and a speakerphone. Featuring a 176x220 pixel resolution, the TFT screen is capable of displaying 65k colors. Clearly, this is an entry-level phone.

Thankfully, the phone has USB connectivity and features Bluetooth. Samsung claims a talk-time of 3.5 hours, with up to 7 days standby. Priced at US $49.99 (after discount and rebate), the Samsung Plum - SGH-t509s - is now available from T-Mobile.
