Samsung GX-1S Digital SLR Samsung GX-1S Digital SLR
Samsung fires up the Digital SLR arena with the announcement of it's new 6 megapixel Samsung GX1S DLSR. The GX1S, developed in conjunction with Pentax, marks Samsung's debut into the DLSR space. With this model Samsung now provides a full offering of digital cameras to cater to a wide market - from point and shooters to professional photographers.

The Samsung GX-1S scores high with a 2.5 inch 210K pixel TFT color LCD screen. It incorporates a technology called Pentaprism for a clear and bright view. The field of view is 95% with magnification at 0.95x (50mm F1.4 lens). It's designed with portability in mind and weighs about 500 grams (body only, without batteries and card). The GX-1S also provides a continuous shooting speed of 2.8 frames per second (up to eight frames in JPEG mode). The lens system is made up of the new advanced Schneider Kreuznach D-Xenon lens system and Pentax’s KAF bayonet mount technology. Samsung says that all Pentax DSLR lenses will be mountable on the Samsung GX1S. A variety of shooting and drive modes are provided to take that perfect picture.

The Samsung GX-1S should start shipping in February. Pricing has not yet been announced. Manufacturer website: Samsung Camera
