Samsung 2GB MultiMediaCardSamsung announced the world's first 2GB MultiMediaCard (MMCmicro) offering the highest storage capacity for mobile phones that use this memory. The MMC utilizes four 4Gbit NAND flash devices to provide storage.

Huh? I wonder how many phones can actually support a 2GB MMC. Not many of those around, are they? Samsung seems to be targeting mobile video as one application for this MMC. Oodles of space to conveniently store several movies on this one, especially in 3GPP format. It's nice to see an adapter thrown in, so you can use it in any multimedia card slot.

One thing to be appreciated though is the formfactor - at 12mm x 14mm x 1.1mm, and even then, Samsung claims that this has the fastest transmission speed - as much as 3.5 times faster than other cards. Of course, it'll take time to hit the markets.

No pricing info, but details are available at Samsung.
