Route66Chicago.jpg%202.pngROUTE 66 Geographic Information Systems, the Netherlands based company that specializes in route planning soft and hardware products has announced a new line of Euro GPS units. Two of the models include Chicago 6000 and Chicago 7000 GPS units. The company claims that their Chicago line of GPS units are the slimmest wide-screen GPS navigators available currently. Lets take a closer look at each one of them.

The Chicago 6000 makes use of state of the art technology with navigation software and maps all preloaded on the device, hence improving the response time considerably. The unit gets a 4.3 inch wide screen (480 x 272 pixels) 65K colour display and comes loaded with features such as, accurate and in-time navigation instructions, FREE traffic information (only in B+NL & CZ & D+A+CH & DK+FIN+N+S & E & F & I) (with external TMC cable (optional)), Geographic coverage: Britain & Ireland + Europe (major roads), Quick address look-up thanks to "QuickSearch" address search engine and extremely fast re-routing in case of deviation from the original route.

The device comes with an easy to use software, which is user friendly and simple. Also customization has never been easier as it allows you to define your navigation the way you like it. You can do a whole lot of stuffs, like switching from day view to night view, browse your route in the classical 2D view or in the more challenging 3D view, change map colours, set speed limits and speed alerts and also pick the language of the voice instructions and the user interface. Chicago 7000 is another variation having features of the Chicago 6000. But what separates the two is the addition of the the FM-TMC receiver, that's absent in the 6000 model.

Both the models boasts of a comprehensive map coverage. The geographic data is provided by NAVTEQ, a world leader in premium-quality digital map data and you can also choose from an impressive collection of points of interest, including restaurants, hotels and petrol stations. The Chicago 6000 pack includes memory card (SD), car mount, mini USB cable, car charger, earphones, back-up CD/DVD-ROM and a carry case. The Chicago 6000 GPS is available at a suggested price of € 299.95 which is approximately around $384 USD.
