Roku SoundBridge RadioRoku have launched their new SoundBridge Radio. Roku, who have created a niche for themselves in the network music player market, claim that SoundBridge Radio is a complete Wi-Fi music system combining the ease-of-use of a tabletop radio with digital music streaming and Internet radio.

SoundBridge radio comes in the same size as your tabletop radio, but combines a host of features: stereo speakers with subwoofer, AM/FM radio, alarm and streaming audio content. This time, they've gone in for a vacuum-fluorescent display (VFD) resulting in a clear display that can show the artist, title, album, genre, etc. when listening to digital music.

This is one product which you won't mind waking up to, now that you can set any music to be your wake-up alarm. With SoundBridge radio, you don't have to turn on your PC to listen to your favorite music stations, which IMHO is a good thing.

Other features include the ability to access playlists from Mac and Windows, support for MP3/WMA/AIFF/WAV/unprotected AAC streaming and is certified to work with Rhapsody music service.

Priced at $399, the SoundBridge radio will start selling in November. You can also pre-order from Roku's website. If you order before Oct. 31, you will receive a $50 discount as well!

Roku Introduces SoundBridge Radio Features Include:

  • Music Anywhere – Connects to your stereo or powered speakers to play your PC or Mac digital music files anywhere in the house via Ethernet or Wi-Fi network.
  • Internet Radio – Listen to hundreds of free music and talk Internet radio stations. Save ten of your favorite stations for easy recall without even turning your computer on!
  • iTunes – SoundBridge uses Apple’s DAAP (digital audio access protocol) to communicate directly with iTunes, and uses less network bandwidth by decoding AAC files in the player rather than in the PC.
  • Most Compatible Player – Built-in support for Windows® Media Connect and Windows Media Player 10; Apple Rendezvous™ and iTunes®; Rhapsody; and any music services using Windows Media DRM 10 such as Napster, Musicmatch and WalMart.com.
