Ricoh Caplio R4 Digital Camera
The recently announced Ricoh Caplio R4, a slim, 6-megapixel camera, offers up to 7.1x optical zoom and even boasts vibration correction functionality. The 28-200mm wide-angle lens is the biggest in this class of point-and-shoot digital cameras, making it suitable for amateurs and pros alike.
A high-res preview LCD is provided on the back, but the neat part is that the brightness can be modified depending on the ambient light. Of course, if this was automatic, that would've been great but that would also push up the price. An efficient Smooth Imaging Engine works in the background to process your images.
At just 26mm thick (about the same as my cell phone, really), it's amazing how Ricoh has put in the Double Retracting Lens System to have a 28-200mm lens. If any camera shake is detected, the vibration correction function moves the CCD in the opposite direction so as to counterbalance the shake - giving sharp pictures like never before.
While price has not yet been announced, the Ricoh Caplio R4 is now available. Access Ricoh's website for details.
