It seems like a lot of cell phones are going pink these days. The Lenovo i807 received a coat of pink paint about a month ago, and now the Motorola L2 on Cingular has just been bitten by the same bug.

I’m not certain why this is, but I smell the scent of shameless promoting. As it is, the L2 only has one cool feature: it can play MP3s. It doesn’t even have a QWERTY keyboard or WiFi access, which are probably going to be a must for the next cell phone era.

Do cell phone companies really believe that people would buy a phone based on color alone? Apparently, they do. Maybe if they made some sort of Breast Cancer Awareness tie-in, then people would buy them for a good cause.
