Pharos iGPS-500 GPS for Ultra-Mobile PCs
After yesterday's shower of GPS goodies, we now bring you the new Pharos iGPS-500 designed to work with the new class of Ultra-Mobile PCs running Windows XP (why the name iGPS, I wonder). Consumers can look forward to a comprehensive experience even on a lightweight PC.
Being highly modular, GPS positioning can be added via serial, USB, CF, PCMCIA, SDIO port or even a Bluetooth connection to a number of devices including UMPC, Windows Mobile smartphones and others. Implementing SiRFstarIII GPS architecture, the iGPS-500 offers high sensitivity and fast time-to-first-fix.
Compatible software include Microsoft Streets & Trips 2006, AutoRoute 2006 and MapPoint. Expect the iGPS-500 next month with prices starting from US $99 for serial/USB cable version up to $199 for the Bluetooth version.
