Pepper Pad 3
Pepper Computer, Inc., and Hanbit Electronics Co., Ltd have launched an upgrade to its highly popular and innovative Pepper Pad Web player. The Pepper Pad 3 not only looks sleeker but also performs three times faster than its elder sibling. The Web Browser works faster and the video performance is far better than the previous versions. For the uninitiated Pepper Pad Web players were the first handheld devices which provided a secure, seamless user experience when it came to services relating to the Web and the digital media.
The Pepper Pad 3 weighs just around 2 pounds and is based on the AMD Geode(TM) LX 800@0.9W(a) processor and runs on the Linux Kernel 2.6 OS. It includes features like Wi-Fi and USB connectivity, a built-in Web camera and the ability to browse the Web, e-mail and IM, download and stream music, videos, movies, and photos via the Pepper 3.0 software. Because of its size the gadget offers true portability in spite of featuring a seven-inch touch screen, a full QWERTY keypad, a 20-gigabyte hard drive, and built-in speakers.
The Pad lets one view full-width Web pages and watch full-screen videos too. The Pad is a tough little cookie as it’s housed in a durable and a splash resistant casing. Via the on board infrared and UPnP capabilities one can control and access any number of PCs, TVs, set-top boxes, CD players, and other A/V devices. The Pad also sports a microphone, jacks for headphones, external microphone and external video display, a direction pad and scroll wheel for navigation. The Pepper Pad 3 will be available by August for $699. http://www.pepper.com/
