Pantech PG-6200 Cell Phone With Fingerprint Recognition
Biometric security takes on a whole new avataar with the Pantech PG-6200 cell phone. The phone, recently approved by the FCC, is one of the first in the world to come with an integrated fingerprint reader.
FCC documents reveal the PG-6200 to be a clamshell phone with a 2 megapixel CMOS camera, and capable of capturing videos at 30fps in MPEG4 format. The camera has a self-timer as well. The phone is compatible with EGSM 900MHz, DSS 1800MHz and PCS 1900MHz networks across Europe, North/South America, Asia-Pacific and Africa.
The internal display is a 1.9" TFT capable of 262k colors at 176x220 pixel resolution, while the one on the outside is 1.2" with 64k colors and 96x128 pixels. The phone features Bluetooth capability, and has a Micro-SD slot for expanding on the available memory.
The Fingerprint Recognition has to be the most unique feature of this phone. It is used to allow dialing of specified numbers only when the phone detects a matching fingerprint stored in its internal database. Further specs in the extended entry.
