Palm CEO confirms three new smartphones for 2006
Palm CEO Ed Colligan has confirmed rumors that Palm will indeed produce an additional three new Treo designs for 2006 not including the 700w which is due out in January for Verizon Wireless. The 700w will be the first Treo to use the Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0 OS.
Another new Treo will be the 700p which will feature the Palm OS Garnet. Two other Treo's are confirmed to be the Hollywood and Lowrider projects. This information was announced by Mr. Colligan during Palm's earnings conference call.
Other interesting highlights from the conference call include: Palm shipped 602K Treos to carriers this quarter; Palm has a 78 percent marketshare of the US handheld market; 700w will ship in early Jan. Check out PalmInfoCenter for additional information.
