Orange Announces Two New Phones: SPV C600 and SPV M3000Orange unveiled two brand new phones, the Orange SPV C600 (a smartphone) and Orange SPV M3000 (a wireless PDA). Both are based on Microsoft's Windows Mobile 5.0, providing seamless integration with MS Exchange Server.

The SPV C600 smartphone supports EDGE (which, at present, is available only in France, Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Belgium), and presents the user with single-click access to frequently used applications. The Orange Homescreen provides shortcuts to ActiveSync, File Explorer, Calculator and Notes (I would want the Calendar there - that's the one app I access the most on my phone). You can access e-mail (both POP3 and IMAP4 protocols are supported) and sync mail, calendar and contacts data with a PC.

The SPV C600 It comes with a crisp hi-res 320x240 pixel color screen, a 1.3 megapixel camera for sending that occassional MMS or moblogging and 64MB memory. It will be available in the UK, France and Netherlands from October end, and other countries will follow suit in November. I had a tough time with the Orange SPV E200, and haven't touched any model after that.

The SPV M3000 offers many of the same features of SPV C600, with the main difference being the addition of a QWERTY keyboard, bigger screen and touch-screen interface. Memory stands at 128MB, and in addition to EDGE support, the SPV M3000 also provides 802.11b interface. It will be available first in France, and then Poland, Netherlands, Slovakia and Romania.

The SPV C600 is available for around €250, while the SPV M3000 is available for around €350. More info is available from Orange.
