Worlds largest: gadget – and waste of energy.

30_bs_tower_4_1.jpgAnother high rise hits the prospective Dubai skyline and this one takes shape as a 360 degree rotation Time Residences tower. The completed tower will offer 200 apartments, and the company plans on building similar structures in every time zone in the world.

"A distinctive time line runs down the building that meets 12 o'clock markings on the ground and the podium, allowing observers to use the building as a fully functioning time piece - it's unique, it's ambitious and it's an honour to be involved from the start," said James Abbott, senior architect at Palmer and Turner.

Dubai's Kulkarni QS will manage the project, while the task of rotating an 80,000 tonne tower through 360 degrees over a seven day period has been handed to Nick Cooper, managing director of Bennett Associates, the British engineer who designed the drill machine that bored the English Channel Tunnel.
Cooper said state of the art bearing systems at several points in the tower will allow a power plant to rotate the base of the tower at 5mm per second using only 21 electic kettles' worth of solar power.

Yes, instead of using that tremendous amount of energy to power the priceless units, the tons of metal will spin around for the arousal of speedy spendors.

Nonetheless- construction is expected to start in June next year with projected completion in the first quarter of 2009.

    trioBike carrierbike

    untitled.bmp

For those of you who have small children and love biking, the trioBike carrierbike is for you. The carrierbike is designed to work as a bike, stroller, or a pushchair combination of both.

This is very helpful for situations when you drop your kids off at daycare (the stroller section fits two). You can then detach the front stroller section, and then be on your merry way on a regular bicycle, without the encumbrance of a kid-carrying section.

It looks like the trioBike carrierbike looks like a European release, or some place where a bike is cheaper than a used car. You may not get that joke, but you will once you hear that the price is $3318.57.

    Segway x2 Golf Personal Transporter

    x2_golf.jpg

Ah, the wonderful Segway. A perfect mix of precision balance and mobility. I’ve always wondered why these utilitarian vehicles never really “caught on”. In fact, it seems that they’re only really popular with the geek crowd. The huge price tag doesn’t help, either.

However, there is an area that is unnecessarily expensive and uses electronic people equipment. That’s right, golf! The Segway x2 Golf Personal Transporter is every golfers dream. After all, golfers are always traveling around in those carts anyway. The Segway x2 Golf is just a golf-cart built for one, with a Golf Bag Carrier Attachment. Somehow, the Segway x2 Golf is able to carry the clubs without becoming unbalanced. I’m not sure how that is possible, but the cart is also able to go over the golf green without disturbing the turf. All that, and it comes with a scorecard holder which can also hold golf balls and tees.

The Segway x2 Golf Personal Transporter should be available in the fall. No word on the price, though.

    Sony XM-604M Amplifier

    XM-604M_angle_med.jpg

Sony has created their first ever dedicated marine amplifier with the creation of the XM-604M. I’m not certain what “marine amplifier” means, but I’m guessing it means that it can operate underwater. Don’t quote me on that, because I don’t want you to buy the product, stick it in the water and electrocute yourself. Read the instructions, please.

Anyway, this sliver-finished amplifier is suitable to drive full-range speakers and subwoofers. It features 60 watts into four channels at Consumer Electronics Association-rated power.

Sony has recently revealed these products in conjunction with the CDX-HS70MW marine head unit and the XS-L100P5M subwoofer. The Sony XM-604M amplifier should be out by winter for a price of $200 USD.

Segway Riders Can Upgrade to the i2

    segway-i2.jpg

Segway of Oakland has made it easy for Segway owners to segue into an upgrade. Yes, that was a horrendous pun, but you wouldn’t have been able to resist it, either. Anyway, for those who own the Segway i67 or p models, you should be able to resell your old model in exchange for the i2 unit.

The Segway of Oakland dealership will pay as much as $1,500-2,800 for an older Segway model, higher for those with new, lithium batteries. The i2 differs from the old Segway models in that the flexible handlebar can better negotiate a turn.

This just in. In examining the Segway of Oakland site, it appears that there is some condition that makes the Segway PT wheels suddenly reverse, causing the rider to fall. This voluntary recall applies to the i series, e series, p series, XT, GT, and unfortunately, the i2 models. However, the problem can easily be fixed with a free upgrade performed at the Segway of Oakland.

So, before you invest in the i2, make certain that the defect listed above has been taken care of.

One of the many uses of an iPod includes a portable music system for joggers and the rest of the exercise crowd. A leading innovator in iPod accessories, iSoundCap Inc., has just introduced a new line of caps designed to hold the iPod securely on the cap itself, without any burdensome wires.

These iSoundCap products are definitely riding on the success on the Nike+iPod kit. Apple sold a little under half a million of these kits during the first 90 days of sales. They have the unique ability to work wirelessly with the iPod nano via a small device planted in a runner’s shoe. Pakuma Akara K1 Multi-purpose Backpack

Seems like everyone, from child to adult, has a backpack of some kind these days. It also seems like everybody has some sort of laptop or mobile PC of some kind. Most of the “old-school” backpacks are not designed to fit a laptop snugly so it can travel undamaged.

Pakuma has risen to the occasion with the creation of the Akara K1 multi purpose urban bag. These bags are design to hold a 17 inch laptop with their trademark COCOON protection system. They also have an MP3 pouch and headphone out port, as well as a CD wallet. Not only are they information-age practical, they are also stylish, as you can plainly see.

The Akara K1 is available in black and brown with green piping, and black and green with brown piping. You can find more information here.

Bling H2O for Nuts and Paris's Dog

blingwater2_12.jpgGotta love capitalism! Where else would you be able to get away by selling a bottle of water for freakin $56! If the whole 50$ tag wasn’t audacious enough, the fact that Paris Hilton Dog drinks it takes the whole concept to new lows. The Bling H20 Bottle justifies its price tag by putting some Swarovski crystals on the bottle and making Paris Hilton Its Patron Saint! Mmmm me thinks Bono needs to have a talk with Ms Hilton and Kevin G. Boyd, Hollywood writer-producer, the man behind the Bling H20. So if you suffer from a Hollywood complex or you are just plain nuts, then the 750ml Bling H20 is just right for you!

    ViewSonic VX1945wm LCD Monitor

    vx1945wm_us_eng_med.jpg

It’s difficult to categorize ViewSonic’s latest product, the VX1945wm ViewDock. The best we can come up with is an LCD Monitor, for lack of a better word. However, not many LCD Monitors come with a spot to dock your iPod.

That’s right, this baby comes with an iPod dock, so you can download music directly into your iPod as you surf the net or whatever you do on the computer. Yet this is only one of its cool features. The VX1945 also has an 8-in-1 card reader, 2 USB ports, as well as microphone and headphone jacks. In case you are wondering, it is completely PC and Mac compatible.

The ViewDock also has excellent clarity with its images, with a full 19 inch screen with 1440 x 900 resolution. It also has ClearMotiva, which allows a 5 micro-second response and will play digital HD broadcast-quality video. For those that love the games, this is the monitor for you.

The ViewSonic VX1945 ViewDock should be available soon, in a glossy, piano-black finish. No word on the price as yet, or if it comes in any other colors.

    MP3 Additions Fluffpod

    ShowLetter.jpg

MP3 Additions, makers of the “Burning Love Pouch”, have produced another fashionable storage case for your iPod. This one is called the “Fluffpod”, and like the “Burning Love Pouch”, it is designed to keep your iPod scratch-free and fashionably conscious.

Last time I wrote about the “Burning Love Pouch”, I joked that it was made with Muppet fur. The “Fluffpod”, as you can see here, has kind of a velvety look to it. The pink faux fur is a nice touch. The “Fluffpod” is definitely about style, but at least it doesn’t come before substance.

    MP3 Additions “Burning Love Pouch”

    ShowLetter.jpg

Some of you may not have heard of MP3 Additions, but they are the leading iPod accessory retailers in the UK. Hard to believe you can have a huge business selling iPod accessories. The age we live in!

Anyway, their latest product is called the “Burning Love Pouch”. I’m sure that some of you are looking at the picture and saying: “how many Muppets had to die just to make one of those?” Or maybe you’re not. I can’t help but think that the one on the right looks like Rolf the dog’s ear. (That piano playing dog go Van Gogh on us?)

Apparently, this is supposed to be fashionable, and who knows, maybe it is. The fur also serves to keep the iPod “safe and snug”, and it looks like they are quality-made goods. I’m not sure why they are called “Burning Love”, but let’s hope customers won’t love to burn them.

    Lion Drover-Remote Controlled Vehicle

_40020798_lionsremotepa203.jpgIf you thought we humans our the only species that crave some excitement think again! A special remote controlled vehicle, which accelerates upto 30 MPH, has been made exclusively for lions in captivity! The LionDrover has been painted with zebra stripes to get a more real look and the brain behind this cool project is Mark Kingston Jones. Right now students of Strathclyde University are working in full swing to get the project on the road (so to speak) and will test it among packs of lions, wolves and African wild dogs!

"I believe this LionDrover will improve upon the results from the first study, which saw the females hunting and catching the Lionrover before the rest of the pride settled down around the device replicating the behaviour of lions on a kill in the wild," says Mark Kingston Jones.

Gary Gilmourm, manager of Blair Drummond, said: "The LionDrover has in many ways brought the Serengeti to Stirling, which makes for a more authentic life for the lions and a more authentic experience for our visitors."

dangerphone_main_320.jpgThe Danger Phone from MacMice isn’t exactly dangerous nor is it any great shakes! Design wise this VoIP phone is meant to complement the pristine white macbooks, which gives them the excuse to make it simple and minimalistic! The handset lacks a display and has no wireless capabilities. One just needs to plug in the handset in a USB port and then Skype or other applications recognize it in seconds.

This USB VoIP handset is plug-and-play compatible with both Mac OS X and Windows XP and MacMice also provides users with a software utility. So if you crave some danger in your banal existence then head over to the Product Page where it retails for $29.99! And if you want some real danger then just go bungee jumping!

    Sony SI-G200 Cellular Mounter

    SI-G200_01_2_med.jpg
Sony Manufacturing Systems (SMS), a head honcho in technological innovation and the world's largest producer of precision measurement and positioning tools, machinery and scientific apparatuses seeks to bring forth their latest model Sony SI-G200 Cellular Mounter this year. It is said that the company will begin accepting orders this month, and the first consignment is expected to get dispatched in November 2007.

“This added advantage will offer our customers a competitive edge in the market place,” added Nakata. “Two trays are supported by 15 cassettes in each tray unit, and when the tray unit is installed on the back of the machine, 17 cassette positions remain available for use.”

There are two models of Sony SI-G200 namely: Model: SI-G200 (Multi-Purpose Head + Multi-Purpose Head) and Model: SI-G200 (High-Speed Head + High-Speed Head). So you get a higher mounting speed and precision. The model supports multi-purpose mounting with one machine only.
