All over the Internet, complaints can be found from users of Nokia's E61, N73, and N80 phones who all share the "SMS Problem".

Symptoms of this issue include a phone taking up to 10 minutes to send a text message and then hanging until this process is over.

Despite complains even on Nokia's consumer site, there has been feedback from Nokia until early two weeks ago when they quietly rolled out a patch called the Nokia SMS Accelerator.

Nokia's support site say the application 'accelerates the sending of SMS messaging", but its more of a bug fix which hopeful will find its way into future firmware versions.

MobileWhack's Michael Josh has tested the update on his Nokia N80 and claims that it has so far solved his problem. "The only solution prior to this patch was a system reformat, in fact I was about to reformat my phone when I found out about the patch last night. I've installed it and it has corrected my problem."

The patch can be downloaded from Nokia's Support Site: E61 | N80 | N73
