nokia_6126.jpgWith almost all other manufacturers bringing out sleek-n-slim phones, can Nokia be far behind? Of course not, and that's why they went ahead and created the Nokia 6126 folding phone. With tongue firmly in cheek, Nokia assures us that a slim phone need not be slim on features. This Series 40 phone sports an Active Standby Mode where the idle screen shows information about to-do list items and calendar appointments.

The grand Nokia 6126 display includes:
Internal: 2.2" 16.7 million True Color TFT (320x240 pixels) QVGA resolution
External: 262k color, 128x160 pixel screen

It is equipped with a unique dual keypad - using a raised area on each key which allows for a large keysize. A dedicated button allows the phone to glide into open position, making it easy for one-handed operation.

And, boy, does it pack a punch. The 6126 is a GSM/EDGE quad-band world phone (supporting 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks). The tapered design ensures that on average, it's just 0.67" (or 14mm) thick and yet comes with a lot of cool features starting with the Nokia standard UI. It's just about 1.9" (48mm) wide, and weighs in at 112 grams. A bit on the heavy side, if you ask me.

First of all, the Nokia 6126 includes a music player - capable of handling MP3/AAC/AAC+/eAAC+ files with ease. But how do you get music onto the phone? Well, it supports microSD memory cards up to 1GB. The phone sports Bluetooth as well, so you can conveniently use a wireless stereo headset when listening to music.

The phone is slated to be available in soft-touch black finish or silver with white/beige/red accents. A 1.3 megapixel cam is included and it offers 8x digital zoom. One of the nice things about it is the full-screen portrait mode viewfinder. You can also capture videos and set them as video ringtones on both internal and external displays. Oh and it can even stream audio/video. Get ready for some 3D gaming as well!

Targeted for Q2 2006, details, including pricing, should be available from Nokia soon.
